Veterinary externship program for accredited DVM students seeking off-campus practical experience in a small animal practice. Externs work under veterinary supervision for two to eight weeks, typically two or three weeks, with rotating days, evenings, and weekends. Responsibilities include gathering histories, performing physical exams, developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans, assisting in surgery and medical case management, providing wellness care, communicating with clients, maintaining medical records, and following professional and ethical standards. A $250 per week stipend is provided, and applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and carry professional liability insurance.
