Description
The Public Utilities Department is hiring a full-time Water Distribution Technician to maintain, inspect, repair, and operate water distribution infrastructure, including water lines, pumping stations, elevated tanks, master meters, hydrants, valves, and chemical feed systems. The role includes collecting flow readings, performing basic water analysis, conducting water main flushing, maintaining pump stations and meter sites, responding to customer inquiries, and submitting reports. The position requires high school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience, mechanical or plumbing trade knowledge, a valid North Carolina driver's license, and a Grade C Water Distribution System Operators certificate or the ability to obtain it within 18 months of employment.
