Description
The Youth Development Counselor establishes a therapeutic milieu and builds healthy relationships with pregnant and parenting teens, runaway and homeless youth, and their families. The role provides guidance, models positive behavior, teaches social, independent-living, and parenting skills, collaborates with team members and community resources, and conducts training, workshops, and events. Candidates need a high school diploma or GED, an AA or BA degree, experience with adolescent and child development, group and family work, communication, motivation, professional boundaries, and knowledge of community resources, safety, nutrition, and family dynamics.
