Description
The Data Engineer will support the NSF-funded Programmable Cloud Lab Center and SPEED national autonomous-science user facility by developing and maintaining scientific data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines. The role designs schemas, maintains databases and storage systems, implements data-quality and provenance checks, integrates data systems with laboratory automation, robotics, AI, and user workflows, and manages access controls, monitoring, backups, documentation, and user support. The position is full-time in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a stated anticipated salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 and requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, data modeling, and related data-engineering skills.
