Description
New Hanover County Fire Rescue is hiring a full-time Firefighter/Apparatus Operator to respond to fires, emergency medical requests, technical rescues, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies; secure scenes; extinguish fires; salvage property; provide basic emergency medical care; operate fire apparatus; maintain vehicles and stations; conduct fire inspections; and represent the department to the public. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, four years of related firefighting experience or three years with New Hanover County Fire Services, a North Carolina driver's license, and IFSAC or Pro Board firefighter and pump-operator certifications. Starting pay is $56,351 plus overtime and holiday pay, with trainee applicants eligible at $18.48 per hour until full qualifications are met.
