Zillow Rentals is hiring a Principal Software Development Engineer to lead the technical direction of internal tooling and data-product systems. The role involves architecting high-scale web applications and services, shaping cross-team architecture, translating business objectives into engineering plans, mentoring senior engineers, and improving code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and incident response. It is a remote, individual-contributor leadership role requiring a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field and at least 10 years of professional software engineering experience across front-end and back-end development.
