Opentrons is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Software Engineer III) to build and operate AWS-based microservices and asynchronous workflows for its AI-powered laboratory automation platform. The role focuses on NLP pipelines, classifiers, embedding infrastructure, knowledge retrieval and RAG systems, evaluation frameworks, cost and safety instrumentation, observability, and production incident response. It is a hybrid position based in Long Island City, New York, requiring onsite presence at least three days per week, and requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including production AI/ML or LLM application work. Compensation is $150,000–$180,000 per year, with potential bonus, equity, and benefits.
