Description

Samsara is hiring a Staff Application Security Engineer to lead the technical direction and continuous improvement of its application security and vulnerability management programs across cloud services, internal systems, and firmware on IoT hardware. The role owns vulnerability backlog remediation, automation and tooling, secure design guidance, risk communication, incident investigations, and critical vulnerability response, while mentoring engineers and partnering with technical program management. It is a remote position open to candidates residing in the United States and requires 10+ years of relevant experience, proficiency in Go, Python, and JavaScript, strong AWS and vulnerability management expertise, and familiarity with SAST, DAST, SCA, and AI/LLM security workflows.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of relevant experience as a cloud or security engineer, including hands-on vulnerability management across a broad, multi-product enterprise environment
Experience independently setting technical and architectural direction for a security program and driving remediation across a broad, multi-surface environment
Experience with modern vulnerability management tooling and vulnerability scoring frameworks
Strong AWS cloud services background
Experience with SAST, DAST, and SCA
Hands-on use of AI/LLM tooling in security workflows
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with C/C++ relevant to firmware and embedded systems
Background at a cloud-native, AI-forward company building agentic or AI-driven products
Experience with security automation platforms and serverless frameworks
Experience integrating vulnerability management into modern CI/CD pipelines with a shift-left mentality
Experience spanning SaaS, firmware, and corporate IT security programs
Experience managing vulnerabilities within a FedRAMP-certified environment
Experience building AI copilots or agents for security workflows
