Checkout.com is hiring a Staff Data Engineer for its Data and AI Platform Team to own and scale event streaming capabilities. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable streaming and batch data applications using Kafka and Flink, providing leadership and strategic influence, developing tooling and documentation, implementing infrastructure for user-deployed streaming applications, advising engineering teams, and supporting incident triage and root cause analysis. The position requires strong data systems and event-streaming experience, cloud and Kubernetes expertise, SQL and container skills, infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD experience, and programming ability in Java or Python. It follows a hybrid model with three days per week in the office.
