Bybit, a leading cryptocurrency exchange ranked third globally in terms of visitor traffic, has recently announced the appointment of Sebastian Gawenda as the head of its options trading division. This move is a key development in strengthening Bybit's presence in the cryptocurrency options market. Notably, Bybit was the first to introduce USDC-settled options contracts for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) in 2022.
Whoop whoop.
Sebastian brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having a solid background in institutional sales. His previous position was at Crypto.com, where he led the Institutional Sales teams for both spot and derivatives exchanges.
Prior to his role at Crypto.com, Sebastian played a crucial role in the Institutional Relationships and Solutions division for the EMEA region at Kraken. His comprehensive background in traditional finance, along with over ten years of experience as an algorithmic equity-options trader, provides him with a unique set of skills and insights.
With his technical expertise and thorough understanding of both the traditional finance and crypto industries, Sebastian is well-equipped to integrate these sectors, offering innovative and forward-thinking strategies for Bybit's options trading.
Sebastian commented on his new role, stating,
“There is a significant demand in the market for USDC-settled options, which is evident from my discussions with various institutions and individual traders. Joining Bybit, with its robust spot and derivatives market, unified trading account, advanced technology, and an excellent team, is an opportunity I'm very enthusiastic about. It's a powerful combination that promises great potential.”
Ben Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Bybit, expressed his excitement about Sebastian joining the team. “Sebastian's extensive expertise and proven success in institutional sales and options trading make him a valuable asset to our team. With him leading our Options division, we are optimistic about providing our institutional clients with superior trading experiences,” he said.
